The runners competed under cloudy conditions with a slight drizzle and a temperature of 59 degrees.

SissonFootLockerMW08.jpg December 1, 2008 from press release This past weekend at the Foot Locker Cross Country Midwest Champs, the only Missouri runners to qualify for the nationals were two juniors from Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield: Emily Sisson who finished in second place in 17:32 and Diane Robison who was 10th in 18:04.

November 17, 2008 from press release (STILLWATER, OK) The Missouri cross country teams competed Saturday in the NCAA Midwest Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla. Mizzou's men placed fifth among the 27 teams from nine Midwest states in scoring 168 points, and only trailing teams ranked in the nation's top 25.

November 3, 2008 from press release (AMES, IA) The Missouri cross country teams competed Saturday morning in the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Ames, Iowa. Mizzou's men placed fifth (155), behind four nationally ranked teams, and ahead of No. 30 Texas for its fifth-straight season in the top half of the league. The Tiger women placed 12th.

August 18, 2008 Triathlon fans were able to witness the much anticipated head-to-head matchup between three- time world champion Australian Emma Snowsill and Portuguese sensation Vanessa Fernandes. But the race was over by the time the run started as Snowsill pulled away from all the other competitors to grab gold in 1:58:27. Fernandes won the silver in 1:59:34, with Australian Emma Moffat finishing third in 1:59:55. Laura Bennett's 4th place in 2:00:21 led the three-person American team, with Sarah Haskins (St. Louis, MO / Colorado Springs, CO) finishing 11th in 2:01:22 and Julie Ertel (Placentia, CA / Irvine, CA) finishing 19th in 2:02:39.

When you start out in middle school, you start doing sports in the seventh grade and you have football, basketball, and track, and typically the same guy coaches them all, at least he did where I was. I did football and I did basketball and when it came track season, he [the coach], said 'Okay, you're coming out for track.' It really wasn't an option. That's how I did it until my senior year in high school, and it sounds funny, but I didn't try all that much. I did it more for the social aspect and because he [the coach] told me too.

Train for Autism is an organization to promote awareness, treatment and detection of autism. Many local triathlons/runs/and other events are held around the country to raise funds and spread the news. I am interested in this charity because the cause not only supports a healthy lifestyle, but also supporting those with autism. My sister works with autistic children, and I have helped out in her classroom and have witnessed autism first hand.

flipflops.jpg July 29, 2008 from Running USA Marketplace / On June 7, 4,900 Flip Flops were given to all finishers of the Hospital Hill Run in Kansas City. Beth Salinger, race director, approached Racetrackers with the request to provide "something new and unique" to be given to participants. The total project took less than 3 months from idea to delivery.
