Normally, a few Ethiopians, a few Kenyans are swooping over the last 200 meters as Tirunesh Dibaba or Meseret Defar fly by to victory. This year, Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret Defar and Meselech Melkamu all had amazing times.

The Foot Locker Cross Country Championships have long been called the only true national championship in all of high school sports. The race brings together the country’s 40 best individuals, boys and girls, to compete on the famed Balboa Park cross country course in San Diego where each year the nation’s top harriers are crowned.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams were announced today. Missouri State was one of 130 Division I track and field teams with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.000. The Bears, with a cumulative GPA of 3.100, were one of five Missouri Valley squads honored.

The final event of the 2009 USATF Outdoor Visa Championship Series, the USA Outdoor Championships run from June 25-28.

This was the second fastest all-time for this meet, with only Ashley Brasovan’s 16:18.91, run last year, quicker.
