ST. LOUIS (MO) – September 1, 2010 – GO! St. Louis, a not-for-profit organization that specializes in presenting fitness events and programs announced today that registration for the 11th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, set for April 9 & 10, 2011 opened on September 1, 2010.

Cross Country Bears Picked Third in Preseason Poll
ST LOUIS- Missouri State was picked to finish third in conference according to the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll released today. Reigning team champions Wichita State were picked as the early favorites with 97 points and seven first-place votes.

Early this morning, I woke up, and as is my habit, I checked my email. I saw the following note from TAFWA President Jack Pfeiffer with some sad news. Scott Davis had died on Wednesday, August 18, after contracting an infection in Moncton, Canada.

In periodization training, one of the key points is that there’s a time and place for every workout. There’s a story about Arthur Lydiard at the 1964 Olympics to illustrate this. A talented Canadian runner was watching Lydiard’s athletes run an interval workout and a day later, he decided to run the same workout himself. When asked by a reporter what Lydiard thought about the young Canadians’ workout he responded, “I think it’s the last nail in his coffin.”

Missouri State cross country has released its schedule for the 2010 season. The schedule features high levels of competition from across the Midwest. The Bears are also hosting their own meet in the Greater Springfield Sports Commission Richard Clark Invitational.

It is 6:30 in the morning, on an overcast Saturday morning, in Kansas City, Missouri. Beth Salinger, race director of the 37th Hospital Hill, and her team, were hard at work on the last minute preparations for the event. The race, the most venerable event in the Kansas City running scene, features a 5k, 10k and one of the toughest half marathons in the country.

Track and Field Bears Finish Sixth at the MVC Outdoor Championships
NORMAL, Ill. - The sprint group's solid showing on the final day of the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships' was not enough to keep the Track and Field Bears in the MVC's top half, as the squad finished sixth and out of the top four for only the second time in head coach Ronald Boyce's 14 seasons.
