ATLANTA – March 19, 2017 – (photos - Atlanta Track Club) Approximately 9,000 runners and walkers participated in the 2017 Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon this morning at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. The 11th annual event drew crowds of spectators despite cool and breezy conditions.

( USATF ) - JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- Olympic silver medalist Paul Chelimo and World Championship bronze medalist Emily Infeld lead strong men’s and women’s contingents into the USATF 15 km Championships Saturday morning in Jacksonville, Florida, hosted by the Gate River Run.
Sprinting away from 2013 winner Vincent Kipruto with 300 metres to go, Ezekiel Chebii of Kenya won the 72nd Lake Biwa Marathon in Otsu, Japan, an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, on Sunday (5).
“I was hoping to run 2:06, but the last half of the race was quite difficult with wind,” said Chebii, who clocked 2:09:06, beating Kipruto by six seconds.
It must have been the longest two minutes of her life. Midway through the women’s long jump final on the final day of the European Championships in Belgrade on Sunday (5), the heroine of the home nation, Ivana Spanovic, charged down the runway, soared into the air and splashed into the sand with what looked a leap well in excess of seven metres.
